WASHINGTON -- According to the American Forest & Paper Association’s April 2010 Kraft Paper Sector Report released today, total Kraft paper shipments were 128.0 thousand tons this month, a 20.6% increase over April 2009, but 9,700 tons less than March 2010. Total inventory was 6,700 tons more than March 2010.
Total Unbleached Kraft shipments fellto 111.7 thousand tons, posting a decrease of 7.3% from last month. The shipments were up 18.9% compared with the same month last year. The shipments of year-to-date in April showed 21.9% increase over 2009. The total Unbleached Kraft inventory rose to 46.1 thousand tons, 4,200 tons more than March 2010.
The total shipments of Unbleached Kraft Bag & Sack declined 3.5% compared to April 2009, and 11.0% from last month. Total shipments of year-to-date in April 2010 rose by 6.9% compared to 2009.
Total shipments for Unbleached Kraft Multiwall Sack increased by 44.8% from the same month last year, but were down 4.9% from March 2010.
Unbleached Kraft Converting shipments showed an increase of 21.1% from April 2009, but decreased 6.0% from last month.
Total Bleached Kraft shipments increased by 33.1% compared with the same month last year, but decreased by 6.4% from last month. Total Bleached Kraft inventory was 2,500 tons more than March 2010.
