JUNE 2010 PAPERBOARD REPORT
WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to the American Forest & Paper Association’s June 2010 U.S. Paperboard Report released today, total boxboard production increased by 3.0% compared to June 2009, but 2.0% from last month. Year-to-date production was up 4.1% over 2009.
Unbleached Kraft Folding productionfell 2.2% when compared to the same month last year, and 3.7% from May 2010. However, the production of year-to-date 2010 climbed 1.7% compared to last year.
Solid Bleached Folding productionwas down 5.1% over June 2009, and 4.4% compared to May 2010.For year-to-date, production rose 1.6% over 2009.Total Solid Bleached Packaging operated at 94.7% of capacity in June 2010, up 1.6 points from last month, and 5.3 points from June 2009.
The production of Recycled Folding showed anincrease of 0.8% over last year, but down 2.4% from last month. Production of year-to-date increased by 4.2% compared to 2009. Total Recycled Paperboard operated at 91.2% of capacity, 0.6 points higher than last month, and 6.1points compared to June 2009.
Inventory of Solid Bleached Kraft Paperboard increased. The current Solid Bleached Kraft Paperboard inventories rose to 289.5 thousand tons, 2.8% or 7,859 tons higher than last month.
