WASHINGTON, D.C. – According to the American Forest & Paper Association’s April 2010 U.S. Paperboard Report released today, total Boxboard production was 846.5 thousand tons, an increase of 8.3% over April 2009, and 1.1% from last month.
Unbleached Kraft Folding increased by4.3% over the same month last year, but declined 1.7% from last month. However the production of year-to-date 2010 climbed 2.7% compared with year-to-date 2009.
Solid Bleached Folding productionincreased by 15.5% as compared to April 2009, and 7.5% compared to March 2010.Total Solid Bleached Packaging operated at 95.9% of capacity in April 2010, up 5.9 points from last month, and 10.6 points from April 2009.
The production of Recycled Folding showed anincrease of 4.9% over last year, but a decrease of 3.9% compared with last month. Total Recycled Paperboard operated at 91.8% of capacity, unchanged from last month, but rose 13 points over the same month last year.
Inventory of Solid Bleached Kraft Paperboard decreased. The current Solid Bleached Kraft Paperboard inventories fell 22.0% when compared to April 2009, 7.5%, or 22.3 thousand tons, less than last month.
